Strength in Numbers! -- The Importance of Membership
When advocating for green/natural burial options, we are often asked questions like “how many people are even interested in green burial?” and “how important is this to our local community?” Your membership helps us to put a more powerful number behind our work.
Membership does NOT require that you are already committed to having a green or natural burial. But it does mean that you support the KGBA vision of the Keweenaw Peninsula becoming a community that is fully knowledgeable about green burial and has a full range of burial options and funeral practices available throughout the year. To learn more details, read our official membership policy.
Membership in the KGBA is FREE and requires just two basic responsibilities, as follows:

Membership in the KGBA is FREE and requires just two basic responsibilities, as follows:
- Good faith ally support for green/natural burial practices and the activities of the Alliance
- Periodic confirmation of membership and updating of contact information (not more than once a year)
Membership benefits include the following:
- A stronger Alliance to support and advocate for local green/natural burial options
- A voice in how green/natural burial options are defined locally -- cemeteries sometimes consult us about their plans, and we would like to be able to poll our membership to find out what matters to you
- A voice in the work of the Alliance (including participation on Board Committees)
- Email updates on local green burial developments (as events occur)
- Ability to attend Board of Directors business meetings (including, with two weeks prior notice, the ability to request an agenda slot to address the Board or make a presentation)
- One or two membership programs per year (advertised and open to the public as well)
- Networking with other members and our Board for help with burial planning, actual burials, and related concerns or projects
- Alliance Website resources and information (available to the public as well, of course)
